These two subjects share very little except the quality of being, by conventional science, impossible. The Shadow People are reported on every inhabited continent, have no known biological requirements, and have never been observed eating anything. The Nandi Bear is reported exclusively in East Africa, is assumed to eat a great deal, and has left behind enough physical evidence to make several zoologists quietly uncomfortable before retiring the subject.

What follows is an honest attempt to assess both entities on equal terms. The categories were not designed with either subject in mind, which means both will fare poorly in at least three of them. This is expected. The assessment proceeds regardless.

These are not small achievements for a creature that has not been confirmed to exist.

The Shadow People are, in several respects, more extraordinary: their geographic range is unmatched, their evasion capability is categorically superior, and their apparent indifference to human observation suggests a relationship with physical reality that the Nandi Bear, whatever it is, does not share. They score lower in this assessment not because they are less significant, but because significance and assessability are different things, and this office can only measure what can be measured.

I want to formally note that framing this as a competition implies one entity is more deserving of serious study than the other, a conclusion I do not accept and which the data, read carefully, does not actually support.
