Accessibility Statement
01 ◆ Our Commitment
What The Cryptid? is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We are actively working to improve the accessibility of this website in line with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA, as referenced in the Australian Government's Digital Service Standard.
This website was built using WordPress with the Elementor page builder. Many elements have been implemented with accessibility in mind. However, as portions of the site use custom HTML widgets and complex interactive features, we acknowledge that full WCAG 2.1 AA compliance has not yet been independently audited or confirmed.
02 ◆ Current Accessibility Status
The following reflects our honest assessment of the site's current accessibility status. We are working toward WCAG 2.1 Level AA compliance across all areas.
03 ◆ What We Are Doing
We are committed to ongoing accessibility improvements. Our current and planned actions include:
- Reviewing custom HTML widgets for screen reader compatibility and adding ARIA labels where appropriate
- Adding keyboard navigation support to interactive elements including the reporter profile cards and sightings tracker
- Reviewing the news ticker for reduced motion compatibility
- Conducting a more formal accessibility review as the site develops
- Monitoring third-party integrations for accessibility updates
