The Tall Greys and the NASA Gargoyle occupy different positions in the taxonomy of the unacknowledged, but share one notable quality: both appear to move through official space with a confidence that suggests either permission or complete indifference to consequence. This assessment attempts to measure them against each other, a task the author undertook with reservations he has documented separately.
The Tall Greys are a cosmopolitan presence, reported across continents and government classifications alike. The NASA Gargoyle is, by contrast, a regional specialist — confined to federally operated aerospace facilities, which is either a territorial preference or an access badge situation we have not yet resolved. Both warrant serious attention. Only one of them, arguably, has a landing clearance.

The NASA Gargoyle should not be dismissed. It wins on witness reliability, olfactory consistency, and pursuit viability, and its confinement to federal aerospace infrastructure raises questions that this assessment cannot answer and that the relevant federal institution has declined to address. It is a smaller, stranger, more locally specific phenomenon — and there is a case to be made that something operating quietly inside four NASA campuses for an undetermined number of years, leaving talon prints and the smell of old capsules, deserves considerably more attention than it has received.
