The request, obtained through internal disclosure, cites reasons classified as ‘personal’ and marked with a secondary notation reading ‘not for further discussion.’ Pruett has not responded to requests for comment. His direct supervisor confirmed the request was received, approved, and that Pruett is, in their words, ‘taking some time.’ That’s the full statement. I’ve read it four times.

It is also, for what it’s worth, exactly how long it takes for certain kinds of cases to stop feeling abstract.
