Dominic, three years on the Perseverance, and six weeks of interrupted sleep — that ratio is still very much in your favour, and I think it is worth holding onto that framing while we work through this.
The detail I keep returning to is the ranger’s reaction. Not surprise, not puzzlement — offence. That tells you she knows exactly what is not doing this, which means she likely has a strong suspicion about what is. Rangers on that stretch of the Leeds-Liverpool are not an unobservant group. I would go back to her, and I would not ask about otters this time. Ask her, plainly, whether there have been other reports from that mooring. Let her answer however she chooses. She will.
