INTERVIEWER: Thank you for coming in, Mrs. Prouty. I’m Evelyn Crowe, Paranormal Advice Columnist and Community Correspondence Host with What The Cryptid. This conversation is being recorded for the Department of Cryptid Affairs file. Can you confirm your name, occupation, and the date of the incident?
WITNESS: Darleen Prouty. I’m a mobile notary — I drive to people, they can’t always come to me, that’s the whole point. And it was last Tuesday. The fourteenth.
INTERVIEWER: The fourteenth. And you were on Marvin’s Farm access road at the time of the incident?
WITNESS: I was. I had a notarization out at the Hennessey place — the old one, past the grain silos. You have to take the access road because the GPS still thinks the bridge is out. It hasn’t been out since 2019.

INTERVIEWER: And what time did you turn onto the access road?
WITNESS: Around four-fifteen. The sun was still up but it was doing that low sideways thing where everything looks a bit wrong. You know what I mean.
INTERVIEWER: I do, yes. Please continue.
WITNESS: I came around the bend — there’s a long straight stretch before the first gate — and they were just standing there. In the road. Right in the middle of it.
INTERVIEWER: How many individuals did you observe?
WITNESS: Three. At first. Then I looked again and it was more like five. Maybe seven.

INTERVIEWER: Can you describe them?
WITNESS: Tall. Very tall. The tallest one was — I want to say nine feet, easy. Thin. Grey, all over. Big heads. Big eyes. You’ve heard this before, I imagine.
INTERVIEWER: We have a file. What were they doing?
WITNESS: That’s the thing. Nothing. They were just — standing there. In a little group. Like they were waiting for a bus.
[Witness pauses. Appears to reconsider something.]
WITNESS: Except two of them were looking at a piece of paper.
INTERVIEWER: A piece of paper.
WITNESS: A document of some kind. One was holding it and the other was — I don’t want to say pointing, exactly, but indicating. Like they were reviewing something together.
INTERVIEWER: Could you see what was on the document?
WITNESS: I was in my car, Evelyn, I was forty feet away.
INTERVIEWER: Of course. Did they acknowledge you?
WITNESS: One of them turned and looked at me. Just looked. For a long time. I’d say a full two minutes.

WITNESS: And then it — I don’t know how else to say this — it turned back to the document. Like I wasn’t worth finishing a thought about.
INTERVIEWER: Did you exit your vehicle?
WITNESS: I did not. I have a 3:30 at the Hennessey place and I was already late because of the GPS situation. I honked.
INTERVIEWER: You honked at them.
WITNESS: Once. Politely. Two of them stepped to one side. The rest stayed put. So I went around.
[Pause, 8 seconds.]
WITNESS: As I passed, I could see the paper more clearly. It had a grid on it. Like a surveyor’s drawing. Or a floor plan.
INTERVIEWER: A floor plan of what?
WITNESS: I couldn’t tell. I was driving. But it was — it had a lot of rooms.
INTERVIEWER: When you reached the Hennessey property, did you mention what you’d seen?
WITNESS: I mentioned there were some tall fellas blocking the access road. Earl Hennessey said that happened sometimes and offered me a coffee. So I had the coffee and did the notarization and drove home a different way.

INTERVIEWER: Is there anything else you remember from the encounter? Any sounds, smells, effects on your vehicle or person?
WITNESS: My pen ran out on the drive over and I had to use my backup. I don’t know if that’s related.

WITNESS: I just want it on the record that I was professional about the whole thing. I had a client waiting. You can’t just stop.
