Mystery Archive — Field Research Division | What The Cryptid?
Every week, a new case drops. Study the evidence. Form a theory. Leave your assessment in the Facebook comments — the FRD reads every one. Solve it correctly and earn points. Enough points and you climb the ranks. The unsolved ones don't disappear. They come back.
How It Works
1
A new case opens every Monday
Each week the Field Research Division files a new witness report. The opening drop contains the witness statement — nothing else. Read it carefully. Your first theory matters.
2
Clues drop Wednesday and Friday
The evidence log arrives Wednesday. Physical evidence, environmental findings, historical reports — and at least one redaction. The FRD Assessment follows on Friday, presenting three possible classifications without naming the answer. One detail has been in the evidence since Wednesday. Most people miss it.
3
Submit your assessment in the Facebook comments
Leave your theory on the Monday opening post on the What The Cryptid? Facebook page — not here on the site. Name the entity. Cite your evidence. Vague answers are not acknowledged. The FRD reads every submission.
4
The reveal lands the following Monday
The FRD publishes its final classification and explains the key detail. Correct submissions are acknowledged personally in the comments. Your name goes on the record. Your points are awarded.
Points and ranks
Points are awarded based on when you solve it — the earlier the more. Accumulate enough and your rank on the leaderboard above advances.

Case returns later
If no one identifies the correct entity before the reveal, the case is not closed — it enters the cold files and returns at a later date. Veterans will recognise it. New investigators won't. Both have something to prove.
